My QTH locator
is JN37WX (47°59'55"N, 7°50'15"E) |

Starting
in January 2010 I changed jobs.
My new company
is headquartered in Zurich/Switzerland. The operational
headquarter is in Freiburg/Germany.
Thus I have
now an additional home downtown Freiburg and commute
frequently to Zurich. You can see in the center of the
picture to the left the grey flat roof of the loft house
which I have been renting.

ICOM IC-T81
|
In Freiburg I am sometimes active
in FM on VHF/UHF/SHF using a portable station with indoor
antennas. I am either using my IC-T81 quad-band (6m,
2m 70cm, 23cm) hand-held transceiver or my Kenwood TM-D710E
dual-band (2m, 70cm) mobile transceiver. In addition
I have added a receiver setup covering HF to UHF bands. |
When
I am at home usually the Kenwood TM-D710E transceiver
is active and transmitting an APRS beacon on 144.800
MHz using the callsign DD1US-1. It is connected to an
AVMAP Geosat5 GPS receiver which provides the precise
location for the APRS beacon and also displays the APRS
stations which have been received. Thus no PC is needed
for this APRS station. In addition I have setup
an Echolink simplex gateway using the callsign DD1US-L
and the node number 518482.
It is based on the TM-D710E and a DELL netbook connected
to the Internet by WLAN. The TM-D710E supports simultaneous
operation of the APRS station and the Echolink gateway. |

The
additional receiver setup is based on a Standard AX-700
wideband receiver plus a set up J.I.L. modules extending
the frequency bands and offering additional demodulation
schemes. I use indoor antennas including a magnetic
loop antenna and active rod antenna from Sony. |

|
In
this section you can find some information about repeaters/digipeaters/Echolink-gateways
and beacons in the area of Freiburg. You can see also
see how far away they are from my QTH in Freiburg. Usually
you can guess that the closer a repeater is, the more
likely I will be able to access it. My APRS beacon usually
transmits the frequency I am monitoring at that time.
If you do not have an APRS station yourself you can
also check my status in the internet at www.aprs.fi or
if you simply click on the little map to the right.
You will then get the present status of my portable
station DD1US-1 in Freiburg. |

DARC OV-Freiburg A05
Freiburg also has a local
amateur radio club which is part of DARC
(Deutscher Amateur Radio Club). OV-Freiburg
"A05" has about 140 members and
owns a nice club home with a decent radio
station DK0FR. The club home is located
next to Freiburg airport (exactly at the
north eastern corner of the airport in JN38WA). The homepage of the
local club "A05" can be found
when clicking on the picture to the right.
The club meets every month on the 4th Friday at 19:30h local
time in the club home. If you want to
get in touch with members of A05 you may
try the following frequencies: on 2m 144.550
MHz and 145.525 MHz simplex, on 70cm 433.500
MHz simplex, on 10m 28.600 MHz simplex.
Furthermore you may the nearby repeaters
DB0ZF (145.700 MHz -0.6 MHz shift, 438.850
MHz -7.6 MHz shift), DB0FRG (438.700 MHz
-7.6 MHz shift) and DB0YE (439.175 MHz -7.6
MHz shift). The clubstation also hosts
an APRS beacon (144.800 MHz) and a PR digipeater
(438.075 MHz). Both use the callsign DB0FRB. |
